Kayleigh Norman graduated from the University of Northampton in 2011 after showcasing this amazing collection inspired by Japanese culture and colours. This enabled her to design a RTW collection showing us exactly how her trip to Tokyo in 2010 had influenced her using brightly coloured tartan and a lot of layering.

Not to mention that she was also sponsored by Dr. Martens so if you love them, you will love this as the style is perfectly matched to DM’s.

Don’t miss this - Friday 24th August RTW show.

When I first saw that Lorie X was a bridal designer, I expected big, white poofy dresses full of crystals and ruffles - or something along those lines. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Lorie X bridal designs focus on the less mainstream wedding dress; something for the individual, alternative bride. Inspirations include Great Expectations, poetry and tragic romance. Designs are elegant and beautiful, and feature a Miss Havisham-esque twisted despair in the form of dark, inky hand drawn digital prints.

The stunning designs combine victorian elements with classic elegance and individuality, to create the perfect anti-wedding wedding dress. To see more head over to the official website here. We look forward to welcoming Lorie X to Southsea Fashion Week.

Shu Ting Wan, a CSM graduate, boasts designs rich in fabric, colour and romanticism. Her ideas are portrayed through feminine frills and juicy hues - the collection consists of orange, purple, pink and white in block colours.

Don’t let this mislead you, though; her collection is inspired by the concept of a broken and twisted fairytale. Wang states, “ It may not seem like a very happy subject to most people but I wanted to do it in a bright and beautiful way to express that even when there is no happy ending in the tale, it can still be a wonderful story.” (Dazed Digital, www.dazeddigital.com)

When I look at her designs, the concept that there is still hope and beauty, even when one feels like drowning becomes clear. Head over here to watch the video promoting her concept.

Shu Ting will be opening Southsea Fashion Week’s Haute Couture Show on Saturday 25th August 2012 - we have a feeling that this is not a show to be missed!

Hey Guys!

So I’ve just finished prepping for Southsea Flea Market tomorrow! Nicole and I have our own stand there and will be selling lots of vintage and modern goodies for super cheap!

There will be an eclectic and affordable mix of bric-a-brac, modern and vintage/retro cothes, arts, crafts, jewellery, books - the list goes on!

It will take place in St Swithun’s Church Hall, which is on Waverly Road (just off of Albert Road). Entry is completely free, and there is free parking via Collingwood Road!

Not only that, you can also buy wonderful home made cakes after browsing the range of stalls. You’d be silly not to go!

See you there?

Does anybody else steal their Mum’s old clothes or is it just me? I claimed this blue top as my own and I’ve worn it so much. It’s a pretty simple piece, but it was free and it’s something new so you can’t complain! Next I plan to raid my Dad’s wardrobe… Plaid Shirts and Levi’s here I come! Don’t knock the hand-me-downs.

Local readers, if you’re stuck with what to do this weekend, I’d recommend heading down to The Wedgewood Rooms on Sunday. Boy/Girl duo Slow Club will be playing, along with support from local Alternative/Shoegaze band Is Bliss and rising Acoustic artist Tom Bertram.

Here’s what The Fly had to say about Slow Club:

“Slow Club are another boy/girl duo but instead of valium’d-up rock n’roll they make sacharine folk-pop that turns your usually miserable scribe into a radiant ray of positivity”

Sound good?

Get yourself down to The Wedgewood rooms sharp! Tickets are only a tenner, and for 3 great acts, you can’t say that’s not a bargain!

Enjoy yourselves!
